Hallo

Hi J... L...,
...
...
I tried also to set up as quickly the new rotor head (CNC 4G3), but I did not succeed.
It took me some time to find the reason:
I was not able to put the screw into the main
rotor shaft to secure the bladeholders, because either the shaft was to short
or the construction to long.
Although the OUTSIDE dimensions of the CNC parts are like the plastic original,
all the recess for the bearings/dampers are NOT as deep as in the original.
This results in a longer construction.
Looking at the picture
http://www.helipal.com/airy-2nd-generat ... r-4g3.html
I have the impression there is a slimmer cone-washer to put it together.
Please look at the attached pictures:

shows the length (10.40mm) of the plastic rotor head central piece,
mounted with dampers and cone-washers on either side.

same as above but with the CNC part. It gets 0.34mm longer
(the reason is the less deep machined recess for the dampers)

Gives you a comparison of the bladeholders.
The bearing in the plastic bladeholder is deeper sunk-in.
The reason for this sunk-in, is to provide some room for the
screw head that fixes the main rotor shaft onto this bearing.
So even if we put a slimmer cone washer to get it assembled, we
will have problems with certain blades, like the wooden
ones, because the screw head is protruding.
!!!!!!!!!!
BTW the carbon ones do not even fit the original bladeholder
without being treated, i.e. trimmed. A radical trim is needed
if one wants to put them in parking position - for the
storage in the alu-case for instance.
For the moment being, I haven't done anything yet, i.e. no trimming of blades, nor machined the CNC parts.
I am a bit disappointed, seeing the work I have to do, to get all set.
Tell me how did you manage to put all together?
Maybe you'd want to tell the manufacturer, for the next lot, to take care of the correct recess amount.
Hope to get some news from you
best regards
Max
PS
BTW, please look at the picture of the "hole in the bladeholder".
This seems to have been worked on after anodizing. and it does not look good
and is way to big for the screws. I fear that I would even get problems
with the balance of the hole head together with the blades mounted, with these holes like this.
I do not know really what to do.
What do you suggest?
Cheers
Max
